Donald from NJ Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I am looking to stay at one of the Disney Value resorts and purchase park tickets. I can not see how to incorporate the fact that of my party of 3, 2 people would be paying out of state ticket prices and 1 person is a FL resident.

Hi there, Donald! Welcome to planDisney.

I can’t help but notice that you share a name with one of my very favorite Disney characters. If you happen to meet Donald Duck himself, I hope you can get a socially distanced photo with him. If you tell him he’s number one, he will pose for a fun photo making the #1 sign with his finger, and if you do it too, he gets so excited! My family collects photos with Donald Duck because he is just so much fun!

Okay, Donald Duck would also want us to get down to business and get your question answered, so here we go. When reserving a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package, which includes a Disney Resorts Collection room reservation and theme park tickets, it’s not possible to combine different ticket types. As a military family, we run into this problem because we are eligible for a great military discount, and the solution is to make a room-only resort hotel reservation and then purchase your theme park tickets separately.

Having said that, I chatted with a Cast Member, who recommends that you price it both ways to see which is the better deal. So, you can go online and price a vacation package at the value resort of your choice, and you’ll need to include regularly priced tickets in that package. Then, price the room only and add the cost of regular theme park tickets for the two of you, and Florida resident tickets for the one member of your party. The Cast Member I spoke with said it depends on the dates and available offers which way will be most cost-effective. If you’d like assistance with any of this, I suggest calling (407) 939-1936 and speaking with a friendly Reservations Cast Member.

Donald, once you’ve made your plans, be sure to link your theme park tickets to your My Disney Experience account. As part of the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, each Guest must have Disney Park Pass reservations for each day they plan to visit a theme park. There is a helpful video that walks you through the process, and the steps on the Disney Park Pass webpage are easy to follow.

I hope you have a fantastic visit this summer! If you have any further questions as you begin to make your plans, please come back and see us. It’s always a pleasure to help a fellow Guest with their Disney Dreaming.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
