    We are looking to stay at a Disney property around April 22. How far in advance can we book fast passes for rides? If we have passed the window, will ride availability for fast passes be difficult to get?

    Greetings Lauren! Welcome to planDisney! I am thrilled that a fellow Buckeye will be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in just a few short months.

    The 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Walt Disney World Resort is in full swing! There are so many new experiences, sips and bites, and special merchandise that are making their debut during the celebration.

    FastPass+ system has been retired and replaced with the new and upgraded Disney Genie+ and the Individual Lightning Lane. These new options can be accessed in the My Disney Experience Mobile app as a way to bypass the standby lines at your favorite attractions. You can add Genie+ to your previously purchased tickets for $15 per day, per person. This will allow you to enter the Lightning Lane entrance, similar to the former FastPass+ entry queue, at your selected time.

    You will be able to make your Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane selections on the day of your park visit. After you have made your initial selection, the app will let you know when you are eligible to make your next request. You can also purchase Individual Lightning Lane Entrance for the most popular attractions. The price of these options varies per attraction and you can only purchase 2 per day. Guests of select Disney Resorts Collection hotels can make their selections at 7:00 AM on the day of their visit, while other guests can make their selections when the park opens.

    To use Disney Genie+ and the Individual Lightning Lane options, you will need to have a valid theme park admission ticket and a Theme Park Pass reservation linked to My Disney Experience for each person in your travel party. I would suggest that you make your park pass reservations now if you have not already because park availability is limited and may not be available closer to your arrival.
