We are looking for a restaurant to celebrate a 50th anniversary. 6 adults, 4 children (ages 3 to 7). Previous mom's panel had advised "Ohana" would be best, but now there's "Be Our Guest" to consider. Ohana still the best choice? Or B.

    Hi Patrick,

The Be Our Guest Restaurant in the New Fantasyland area of the Magic Kingdom is an enchanting location for a fiftieth wedding anniversary, especially if you sit in the center ballroom.  I just ate there with my family last month to celebrate my mother's seventieth birthday and it was a lovely experience.  As long as all the people in your travel party are prepared to present a theme park ticket to enter the Magic Kingdom, this would be a memorable place to dine.

Of the two options, however, I think I'd still choose 'Ohana, mainly because of the ages of the children with whom you will be traveling.  At 'Ohana, they offer children the opportunity periodically to leave their seats and engage in fun activities like coconut races or singing along to Hawaiian tunes.  This keeps their attention.  Also, the food comes more quickly to the table at 'Ohana.  At the Be Our Guest Restaurant, the dinner service has a much more formal feel.  While the restaurant is certainly kid-friendly, it feels like a much more grown-up experience than 'Ohana.

So if you're looking for a fun and festive event, book your celebratory dinner at 'Ohana.  If you're looking for a more formal and elegant experience, then you can't beat the Be Our Guest Restaurant.  (If you choose 'Ohana for your fiftieth anniversary meal, you can always check out the Be Our Guest Restaurant for lunch on another day.  Be Our Guest serves quick service meals, which are far less formal, at lunch time.)

Please congratulate the bride and groom on fifty years of love and magic and wish them many more from the Moms Panel!

    Best wishes,
    Jill
