Ahoy Katie!
Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! My family went on the
Pirates & Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage when my youngest was abut 3 years old. Our whole family had a blast!
As far as safety is concerned, then yes, this is an experience for all ages. You start at
Disney's Contemporary Resort where you'll find all kinds of snacks and treats! My girls were in heaven. In true pirate fashion, we did plunder the snacks and brought some with us onboard in a backpack.
You'll also get to take pictures with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee before the boat departs. If you want to get a reaction out of Captain Hook, just call him a codfish and prepare to laugh.
Next you'll set sail on your adventure and watch Happily Ever After fireworks on the water. Your first mate, Patch, will also tell some jokes and quiz you on Disney Trivia. Your little one may not understand the jokes, and if your 18 month old doesn't like fireworks, then I might skip it. Another thing to take into account is what time Happily Ever After starts. My kids are night owls, but some toddlers need an early bedtime.
Other than that, if your child loves snacks, boat rides, and character meet and greets (you get an extra surprise guest at the end), then I think it's a great choice. All 5 of my girls had a ton of fun and keep asking when we can do it again.
If you have any other questions, please come back and see us real soon. Have a magical vacation!
