Hey there, Mordechai, and welcome to planDisney. My family makes regular trips to both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort and we need to find kosher food. While there are elevated experiences for traif meals, unfortunately, there are no elevated kosher dining experiences.
Kosher meals are available to Guests at select table service and quick-service Disneyland Resort restaurants. Borenstein Caterer, Inc. (subject to change) out of Jamaica, NY, supplies the Kosher meals to Disneyland Resort. They are under the supervision of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (OU). Kosher meals are double-wrapped airplane-style, steamed, and typically include a protein, a starch, and a vegetable with all dairy Cholov Yisroel products, all bread, Pas Yisroel, and usually accompanied by wrapped dining utensils.
Advance dining reservations may be made as early as 60 days in advance and Disneyland Resort suggests that Kosher meals be reserved at least 24 hours in advance but I think more time is better. Here is what I do:
- Make a dining reservation at one of the listed Kosher table service restaurants
- Quick-service dining experience locations do not accept reservations
- Email Special.Diets@Disneyland.com at least two weeks in advance to tell them where you will be eating and to ask what meal options are available; include the restaurant name, the date, and the approximate time you want to dine
- Email again 48 hours before your dining time to ensure the meals have been ordered for your dining experience
Meals are paid for after service is rendered so it is not like having a Shabbos hotel where you can prepay for food and receive it. However, I would ask in your email if prepay is now allowed as policies changed with frequency at Disney Parks Resorts.
From personal experience, Kosher meals were unavailable at quick-service locations even when the website says we did not need to give advance notice. This is why I highly recommend emailing and planning.
Subject to meal availability you can make arrangements for Kosher dining at:
Disneyland Park
Disney California Adventure Park
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
Disneyland Hotel
Mordechai, I hope this helps you enjoy your time at the "Happiest Place on Earth." Please feel free to write me back directly with any follow-up questions or for other Kosher Disney vacation planning tips.
Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
