Hello Amanda,
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. One of my favorite parts when dreaming about my next Walt Disney World vacation is deciding where to dine. There are so many unique, delicious options!
It sounds like you are actually thinking of two different restaurants, both located at
Disney's Contemporary Resort.
Chef Mickey's is a classic character dining experience located in the Grand Canyon Concourse of the hotel. It's bright and colorful, with the monorail zooming by taking guests to Magic Kingdom. The food is all-you-care-to-enjoy, and you get to meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto. Breakfast or dinner is a magical addition to your Disney day, with a focus on fun! However, guests who dine here do not have access to the observation deck on the 15th floor to view
Disney Enchantment.
If you want that experience, you'll need to make a reservation at
California Grill. Although it's located in the same hotel, the dining experience couldn't be more different. California Grill is only open for dinner and is a fine dining experience. Besides incredible food, guests enjoy a stunning view of
Seven Seas Lagoon and
Magic Kingdom. When it's time for Disney Enchantment fireworks to begin the lights are dimmed and music is piped into the restaurant. If you are seated near a window, you'll have a fantastic view, or you can choose to step outside and view the show from the observation deck.
If you have a reservation that is much earlier than the fireworks, or even later, no problem. You can simply show your reservation or receipt to a Cast Member at the restaurant check-in podium on the 2nd floor of the hotel. They will take you to the private elevator that will lead you up to the deck to enjoy the show.
Hope this helps. Enjoy planning your magical vacation!
Diane
