Hello there, P!
The only bicycle I’ve ever ridden around the Walt Disney World Resort is a Surrey bike, but I’m guessing that’s not the type of bike you are looking for. However, if you are interested in renting a
Surrey bike, you will be in the perfect spot staying at
Disney’s Yacht Club since it’s conveniently located along
Disney’s BoardWalk.
According to the
Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, bicycles are permitted only in
designated Disney Resort areas, and the EPCOT Resort area is not designated. If you are looking to do some road biking, I recommend that you look into any area outside of the Resort area since many of the Walt Disney World Resort roads don’t have shoulders, and there are very few bike lanes. Surrey bikes are allowed as they are more of a leisure-style transportation. I also learned that electric bikes are not permitted on bike trails, roadways, or sidewalks at the resort.
Disney’s Yacht Club has a gym called the
Ship Shape Health Club, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and it can be accessed by simply using your MagicBand. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a total confirmation for you on whether the bikes are compatible with SPD-type pedals, but I recommend that you call the
Ship Shape Health Club to see if they can answer this question for you. I recall that the gym exercise bikes were the TechnoGym brand, which may be compatible with both Look Keo and SPD cleats.
