Howdy Elizabeth!
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is my favorite Walt Disney World Resort! It's so unique and offers fun activities. Sometimes I forget I'm still on Disney property. I've camping there since I was a kid and now I get to take my own children and make new wilderness memories with them. My family had a very peaceful stay in a tent just last weekend and I am looking forward to our next cabin stay in a few months.
Renting a golf cart at Fort Wilderness is a "must-do" for my family when we stay at Fort Wilderness. While it isn't necessary to have a golf cart since there are internal buses that will take you wherever you would like to go, having the convenience of getting around on my own and on my own time is a major perk. Many campers decorate their campsites throughout the year, so joy riding at night to see the decorations lit up is an activity all on its own.
The golf carts are not allowed off Fort Wilderness property, but you can use them to drive to the marina at the Settlement Depot to catch a ferry boat to Magic Kingdom Park or to the Outpost Depot at the entrance of the Resort to catch a bus to the other parks or Disney Springs. There is designated cart parking at both of these places.
You can find the
current pricing for golf cart rentals online. I highly recommend reserving one in advance, especially since you'll be visiting in the summer. A credit card is required to guarantee your reservation, but is not charged until 24 hours prior to picking it up.
Please visit again if you have any additional questions about staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort!
