Pamela from TX Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I am looking at possibly doing a Run Disney 5K in the future. Are there specific resorts that Run Disney participants have to stay in or can you stay anywhere on property?

Howdy Pamela (from your fellow Texan)!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I will always be in support of someone signing up for a runDisney race because runcations are my favorite way to experience Walt Disney World Resort, but you've been warned that you'll be hooked and likely be ready to sign up for your next one before you're even on Disney's Magical Express heading back!

Any one can participate in a runDisney race regardless of where they stay, but you'll likely find that the benefits of staying on property making it a no-brainer, especially during race weekends. If you stay at any of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels during a runDisney weekend, you will have complimentary transportation provided to and from the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, where you'll pick up your bib and race shirt, as well as the start and finish lines! Some Guests choose to stay off property, which is certainly an option, but you'll be required to provide your own transportation. Regardless of what you choose, I know you are going to have a magical time!

Come back and let us know what race you sign up for and what other questions we can address before your first runcation!

I've been to Disney more times than I can count, but I found an even greater passion for all things Disney after discovering runDisney events. There is no better motivation to train for a race than a trip to the most magical place on earth! Learn More About Lindsey
