Looking at Poly for trip in April. Heard that 1st floor patio rooms offer beach access? Was wondering if this was considered a "standard" room or is it an upgrade? Also concerned about noise/traffic outside the room? Will be traveling w/ 2 young

    Hey Alyssa!

We just stayed at Disney's Polynesian Resort in April and fell in love with the resort.  There are only a handful of rooms which offer almost direct access to the beachy shores of the Poly.  We stayed in a room in the Tahiti longhouse and we were able to walk out to the beach area from our room.  It was perfect for viewing the Electrical Water Pageant and Wishes Nighttime Spectacular.  The Hawaii longhouse also offers easy beach access, but this longhouse is reserved for Club Level rooms only.

Rooms facing the water like ours in Tahiti are not considered "standard" rooms.  These rooms are booked using the Lagoon and Theme Park View categories, which are more expensive than the Standard View category.  The Samoa and Fiju buildings are considered Standard/Garden View, but are only a short walk to the beach areas.

As far as noise is concerned, we were located closer to the lobby of our longhouse (where the main longhouse entrance and elevators are located) and we did not experience an issue with noise.  We had a three and 21 month old on our vacation and they were never awakened by hallway noise.  The beach in that area stays pretty quiet.  The Tahiti building is located right next to the Transportation and Ticket Center so you will hear the ferry horns blowing, but, again it was never anything that interrupted sleep or our ability to relax.

If you really want some great insider information on the Polynesian Resort, I highly suggest taking a look at the unofficial fan site by TikiManPages.com.  It's an incredible resource on all-things Polynesian!

Please let me know if you have any other questions, Alyssa!  I'd love to help you plan your magical April vacation.
