Looking into planning a wedding. Expecting 20-50 people. what do i need to do?

Well hello there Adrian and welcome to planDisney!

Planning a Disney Wedding is like embarking on an adventure unlike any other; this year I got married at Walt Disney World Resort myself at Disney's Wedding Pavilion and as a Disney Groom I'm absolutely honored to help point you in the right direction! I personally started by spending hours reading the Ever After Blog, listening to Disney Wedding Podcast episodes and even joining online planning communities to connect with fellow DisBrides and couples to hear their stories, recommendations and pricing as well as get an idea of how their events ran. Looking back on how we started, here are my personal tips and advice from our wedding planning journey!

    • The majority of couples already begin planning with Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons at about a year ahead of your desired date or even as much as 16 months earlier in some cases like ours; your first step is to reach out to them directly to receive a Digital Brochure and be contacted by a member of their sales team who will help you reserve your desired dates, locations and even Resort Hotel room blocks.
    • Having your venues and preferred time of day decided is the first step; my husband and I discovered that certain venues are only available for larger groups and while we were originally excited about the idea of tying the knot in one of the Theme Parks, these only take place super early in the morning or late at night when they're closed to guests. (It's also important to keep in mind that many Theme Park venues are outdoors, so it's important to consider whether you'll be fine with moving in the event of a sudden change in Floridian weather! I highly recommend planning a visit to peek at the various venues that may be open for you to explore.)
    • With regard to your budget, Disney Weddings are priced in a particular way that requires you to meet an Event Minimum expenditure that can vary a lot depending on your venues and the day of the week that you choose. A chunk of this goes towards reserving your Ceremony time, with the rest allocated to aspects of your wedding that are required to be provided by Disney such as Food & Beverage and even things like Entertainment and Décor in certain venues.
    • As far as your food, there are also minimum amounts that we were required to spend on our menus based on a per-person rate; we were fortunate to be invited to a menu tasting event (which is not necessarily guaranteed for every couple) to speak with our incredible Disney Chef about the dishes and drinks that we really wanted and the budget that we wanted to hit. Just be aware that certain locations can only have buffet-style service!
    • The first part of our planning timeline was relatively relaxed and completed over email after we signed our Letter of Agreement; you may have your Wedding Planning team assigned in the last few months leading up to the wedding and have consultations over the phone or online before you have a Banquet Event Order or BEO finalized!
I hope that this gives you a head start for you both as you begin your planning journey, there's so much more that I'm happy to help with so please feel free to ask me directly here at planDisney!
