We are looking to plan a trip to WDW in October 2016, probably the first or second week of the month. We will be taking our kids, 5 and 2 years old. Any insight into the crowds during this time? (especially with younger kids along) Thanks!

    Hi Jessica!

Like you, I am always trying to figure out the best time to visit Walt Disney World and how busy the crowds will be at different times of year. It's always tough to predict. Things sometimes do seem to slow down a bit during the times when kids are in school. Weekends, holidays and summer vacations are among the busiest times to visit. That said, my family has been to Walt Disney World oodles of times and our favorite month to be there is October. The summer heat has somewhat subsided and Fall is in the air. We love Mickey's-Not-So-Scary-Halloween-Party which runs select days in October, as well.

One suggestion of how to make the most of your time without having to rely on the size of the crowds is to stay at a Disney Resort, if possible. Disney Resort Guests are given access to a few extra hours at one Park per day--called Extra Magic Hours. This is a great way to have a little bit of time at the Parks when crowds are lower.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Mom's Panel. Here's hoping your Walt Disney World vacation is filled with happy memories and lots of pixie dust! Have a wonderful day.
