Hiya, Kayla! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
As
Elsa needed Anna, Olaf and Kristoff to support her
into the unknown, we are here to help you navigate the new requirements at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Kayla, I just returned from a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort and am happy chat with you about my experience wearing a
face covering.
First, in addition to the face covering, you will see enhanced cleaning procedures and physical distancing measures all throughout the parks and resorts. This really helped me to feel comfortable on vacation and I would encourage you to read all about these
enhanced health and safety actions.
Now, let's talk about those face coverings! When I visited, I brought a few different types with me to try out. I used the disposable paper masks, the adorable Disney ones available on
Shop Disney, a few different styles that we bought at our local Target and even some homemade ones. Since the "feel-like" temperature was over 100 degrees a few days, I appreciated being able to change my mask into a new one about half-way through the day. My husband didn't mind any of the masks and stayed in the first one he put on, but as the temperature rose, I was most comfortable in the paper disposable ones. Since we all have a different comfort level, I would definitely encourage you to try out a few different styles and fabrics and pack multiple in your park bag. I even brought a travel-sized laundry detergent with us to wash out our masks at the end of the day and hang them to dry overnight.
Kayla, the other tip I can offer is to make sure you take breaks to hydrate and snack throughout the day. While you are required to wear a face covering at all times, you are permitted to take them down while eating and drinking as long as you are stationary (meaning no walking around while eating that
DOLE Whip®). About every 90 minutes we would seek out a bench in a shady spot, grab a snack and drink lots of water. Those 10 minute breaks helped me immensely and I hope it can help you as well.
Kayla, while things are a bit different, the Magic of Disney is still there and waiting for you. Now more than ever, I treasure the time away with my family and I hope you are able to enjoy every moment of your trip. If you planning to live your adventure at
Disney's Hollywood Studios, make sure to experience the newest attraction,
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. The whimsy and ingenuity of this ride is not to be missed!
Come on back and see us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any other questions you might have.
Wishing you all the best,
Lauren
