Hello Terri! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Mom´s Panel.
What a great planning decision to visit Walt Disney World during the second week of May. Your family will be able to experience great weather and awesome crowd levels.
For predicting crowd levels I always use the Undercover Tourist and the Touring Plans website. Both sites give guests a really good idea of what to expect on a day by day.
Planning approach on a 6 night / 7 day (using the
Disney Calendar and the crowd level websites):
- select dates and resort
- the most do´s (attractions, restaurants, special events, night shows, parades, ...)
- what park(s) visit twice - assuming that you will not visit water parks
- assign parks per day
- establish nap times - for days with late park hours.
- book advance dining reservations
- other reservations (Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Pirates League)
With this approach I suggest:
- Hollywood Studios: Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday
- Magic Kingdom: Sunday / Tuesday / Wednesday
- Animal Kingdom: Thursday / Friday
- Epcot: Monday / Thursday
For Saturday, if catching a late flight, you could visit any park at opening time, preferably Hollywood Studios - opening that day with Morning Extra Magic Hour.
Remember to always keep looking at the Disney Calendar for updates and changes.
To experience low crowds my family always enters parks at opening time and makes the most of late park hours, especially Evening Extra Magic Hours.
Happy to help you plan a magical Disney vacation.
Miguel
