Hello there Frank and welcome to planDisney! How exciting that you're heading to one of my favorite places to call Home:
Disney's Vero Beach Resort. It's so nice to take a pause from snowy and cold weather, dream of the beaches at Vero and picture the turtles who will soon be arriving to nest on the shores; you'll be there in no time!
Disney's Vero Beach is an elegant resort, perfect for relaxing and enjoying Florida's scenic Atlantic Treasure Coast. There's so much to discover here for the young to the young at heart. Unfortunately, Character dining has not yet returned, so the Pirate Party's still out at sea. I spoke with a Cast Member today who shared that there are still plenty of activities adults can participate in such as the daily Mixology classes in the Green Cabin Room featuring bourbon, tequila, rum, and wine depending on the day. The
Green Cabin Room is also home to Trivia, Name that tune, and Majority Rules - be ready to have a great time! If you’re a fan of being in the evening open air, there is a Campfire and singalong on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (8:30 pm) and you can even catch a movie on the Green on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (also at 8:30 pm). You could try your hand at Port Holes Mini Golf, Archery, biking (rent at
Eb & Flo’s Rentals) or tennis; the list is never-ending!
While the Mickey-shaped swimming pool is currently being refurbished, it will be open and ready to go by the time you check in. All of the pool’s activities will be back on track once the pool is re-opened which is certain to be loads of fun. My favourite pool activity is the
Pirate Plunge waterslide race where the Cast Members time the participants as they fly down the 2-story 163-foot spiral water slide. I just might have been crowned the women’s sliding champion on one of our trips!
If you’re partial to sand and the sea, you channel your inner Moana and explore by way of a (rental) sailboat. You can also rent jet skis, kayaks, and boogie boards but if you prefer relaxing, you can rent chairs and sun umbrellas to lounge in comfort.
My favorite sand activity is to head to the beach every morning at 7 am, meet the Cast Members on the Conservation team (they also work at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park) and walk alongside the team while they look for turtle nests. Vero Beach is the nesting ground for Loggerhead, Green, and Leatherback turtles. The Cast Members are more than happy to answer all of your questions about turtles and their nesting season which runs from March until September.
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is home to the ocean-inspired
Wind & Waves Grill. The menu is focused on fresh Florida seafood and locally sourced produce. If you feel like stepping off the Resort and exploring local eateries, I recommend meandering to South Vero Beach and checking out the many local establishments. You can also head in the other direction to Sebastian which is home to many great restaurants. I always like to check in with the Cast Members at the Front Desk for their recommended places to go.
Frank, I hope some of these recommendations pique your interest. There truly is so much to do and "sea" (or you can relax as much as you like!) at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. If you have any other questions, please visit

Cheers,
Candace
