Hiya Peter - welcome to planDisney!
The
Disability Access Service (DAS) is a great way to accommodate Guests who may not be able to utilize the standard attraction queues. Once registered, each DAS-registered Guest can request return times for attractions through the
My Disney Experience Mobile App and can include up to five additional Guests from their party. After the return time, you'll simply return to the attraction and enter through the Lightning Lane!
Return times are about the same as an attraction's current standby wait, so both DAS-registered Guests in your party would simply request return times for the same attraction at about the same time. With two DAS-registered Guests, you would have plenty of room to include the other seven people! The only catch is that you will have to remember who is included in each DAS return time.
For example, I would suggest putting five people on one, and the remaining two on the other. When returning to the attraction, the first DAS-registered Guest will tap in (i.e., MagicBand, MagicMobile Pass, Key to the World Card) followed by the five Guests that were included on that return time. Then the second DAS-registered Guest would tap in followed by the remaining two Guests. Now you're all in the Lightning Lane together to experience the attraction!
Keep in mind that each DAS-registered Guest can only have one active return time at a time, so once you experience one attraction, make another return time selection for a different attraction. You might end up with questions about this once you're in the Theme Parks - just stop and speak with a Guest Relations Cast Member or a member of the Guest Experience for some assistance!
Peter,
online pre-registration for DAS via video chat is also available at least two but no more than 30 days prior to your first day in the Theme Parks. It looks like you're in that window now and may want to consider this option. One benefit of online pre-registration is the ability to pre-book up to two DAS Advance selections per day of your trip. These are one-hour windows during which you can experience an attraction through the Lightning Lane, and are completely independent of the regular DAS return times you would request while in the park.
DAS Advance selections are limited and so this is the one reason you might want to try and register together to get similar time windows. I'm not able to locate any information about whether co-registering on a single video call is possible, so here are a few ideas ... If both people registering for DAS can be in the same place at the same time, I suggest both request a video chat at the same time from different computers. Whoever gets connected to a Cast Member first can explain your situation and see what options you'll have. If it's possible, registering together might make it easier to line up your DAS Advance selections for the whole crew.
If you need to register on
separate calls, when both people join the virtual queue at the same time, even from different locations, they should get connected to a Cast Member at about the same time. Whoever gets to book DAS Advance selections first just needs to inform the other person what was booked so they can then try to secure something at around the same time.
Peter, I hope this information is helpful, but if you have any follow-up questions,
please write back!
