There is only one thing that I can think of that's better than planning a Disney vacation. . .and that's planning two at the same time! Combining a visit to Walt Disney World Resort with a Disney Cruise Line sounds practically perfect to me. I've had the chance to do this a few times, and I'm happy to share a few tips to help you navigate the planning process for both of these destinations.
Let's start by talking about making your reservations. To plan your land-and-sea vacation, you'll actually make two separate reservations. You can
visit the Walt Disney World website or
call a Cast Member at Tickets and Hotel Reservations to book the "land" part of your trip, and
visit the Disney Cruise Line website or
call a Cast Member at Disney Cruise Line to book your cruise. If you have flexibility with your travel plans, I'd suggest visiting Walt Disney World first. I've found that after a few days enjoying the
excitement of the theme parks, relaxing poolside at sea feels like absolute perfection!
At Walt Disney World, you'll find more than two dozen
hotels in the Disney Resorts Collection and a variety of
theme park ticket options so you can customize a vacation that meets your needs and your budget. A few of my favorite places to stay are
Disney's All-Star Sports Resort,
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and
Disney's Beach Club Resort. Regardless of where you choose to stay, you can enjoy
great benefits as a Guest staying at a Disney Resort hotel.
When you're ready to choose your sailing, you'll find many options departing from
Port Canaveral. My favorite days of any Disney Cruise are the ones spent exploring
Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Whenever possible, I like to book a cruise that includes stops at both of these island destinations!
Once both of your reservations are booked and you have made your travel arrangements, you can contact Disney Cruise Line to purchase
ground transportation between Walt Disney World and Port Canaveral, if you'd like. If needed, ground transportation is also available between Orlando International Airport and the cruise terminal.
