    Rick from NJ Asked

Looking for information, including cost, of fast pass plus at Disneyworld

Hello, Rick! I'm so glad you've stopped by planDisney with your question. It is never too soon to start planning a Disney vacation and yours will be here before you know it!

Rick, since the reopening of Walt Disney World last summer, the FastPass+ program has been suspended. There's also been no word if or when it may be returning to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. What that means is that at this time, all Guests are waiting in the standby queue only for attractions. You would think that that would mean outrageous wait times for attractions, but since capacity is still limited it's really not bad. I've waited an hour or less for some of the most popular attractions when I've been at Walt Disney World. In fact, everything is running 10-15 minutes quicker than the wait times that are posted.

When the FastPass+ program was available, it was a complimentary service for all ticketed Guests to use. Once you linked your theme park tickets to your MyDisneyExperience account, you were able to preselect up to 3 attractions per day to have a FastPass+ reservation for. This was basically a virtual placeholder in line for a specific time. When it was your time to enjoy that attraction, you'd enter the FastPass+ return queue and have a very little wait for the attraction that you preselected. The FastPass+ program was a rolling system meaning you could secure more FastPass+ reservations throughout the day. After you used a FastPass, you were able to log into the app and select another one to use later in the day and so forth.

If you are hoping to enjoy the most popular attractions at each of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks with little to no wait, I suggest arrive before the park opens in the morning. This plan has worked time and time again with my family. I am always amazed at how much we are able to cross off of our must-do list by around lunchtime when we get to the park before its official opening time. Theme park transportation from Walt Disney World Resort Hotels starts running anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour prior to the park's opening. If you are driving, the parking lots at each of the theme parks also open up about 45 minutes prior as well. Then you'll go through temperature checks and a security screening and then be on your way to your first attraction for the day.

Rick, I hope the FastPass+ program returns before your next Walt Disney World vacation but if not, keep in mind what I said about arriving early. It really does make for such a nice Disney day. If you have any other questions, please feel free to come back and ask me. Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
