We are looking into an all inclusive package for a trip in June. Are there any budget friendly tips or ways to not go overboard. We made our first Disney trip 3 years ago. However now we are a family of 5. We only came for the day last time.

    Anna:

With a family of 6, our family looks for ways to keep Disney budget-friendly. Here are some ways to keep a trip affordable:

    • Save on your room: Are your dates flexible? The rule of Supply and Demand can change the price of your hotel at Disney. Traveling in June won't bring the highest rates, but visiting at the end of summer through September or mid-January to mid-February will give you Value rates--the cheapest of any season.
    • Save on tickets: While there are websites where you can save a few dollars on tickets, your biggest savings comes from buying just the Basic Magic Your Way ticket and sticking to just one park per day. The Park Hopper option allows you to move from park to park but will cost a family of 5 over $300. That could cover a character meal, room upgrade or gas from Kentucky.
    • Save on dining: Staying in accommodations like the Family Suites at All-Star Music that come with a microwave and small refrigerator can pay for themselves, giving you more space and another bathroom compared to a single room that sleeps 5 at a Moderate or Deluxe resort. Eating just one meal a day in your room, even breakfast, can save you significant money.

I've found that staying on budget is easier when we've purchased a Disney Vacation Package that included our tickets and dining plan. I knew all our costs upfront and, except for travel and souvenirs, could avoid unexpected and whim expenses. Check out the new Disney Savings website to help spread those costs out over the next few months and help decrease the impact on your family's budget.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
