Hiya Travis! Welcome to planDisney! It's great to have you stop by!
I'm sorry to hear that you won't be able to join your family for your upcoming trip to the
Walt Disney World Resort. I had a similar circumstance happen to me a few years back and the process to change the reservation was fairly simple. I hope your family brings you back a few souvenirs while they are away, maybe a couple of
Gideon's Bakehouse cookies will do the trick!
After speaking with a Cast Member this morning, your best option will be to use another Guest that is currently on your reservation as the primary name going forward. If someone is taking your place on the trip, they can then be added to the reservation thereafter. It's much easier to keep all of your reservations in line by proceeding forward this way. To make these changes, you'll need to
call the Walt Disney World Resort and speak to a Cast Member directly. They will be able to make these changes over the phone and work with you through the process. Once the changes have been made, you can log on to your My Disney Experience account to ensure that they took effect.
Travis, once you have this all squared away, your family should be good to go for their upcoming stay. The Guest that is taking over as the primary should download the
My Disney Experience App to their mobile device in order to manage their plans while they are there. They can make changes to dining reservations, purchase Disney Genie+, and book Lightning Lane reservations all with the mobile app. It's a great tool to have by their side during their stay!
I hope this information helps you make all the necessary changes to your plans. I hope you're able to make it back to Walt Disney World in the near future!
Have a magical day!
Greg
