We are looking to go to DisneyWorld Resort in the fall of 2023. What is the best week to come with the lowest crowds?

    Hi Keller,

Thank you for stopping by planDisney!  I am happy to help you plan your Fun-Filled Fall at Walt Disney World Resort.

A visit to the Walt Disney World Resort in the fall has so many possibilities.  The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing and is a delectable celebration for all ages!  All the theme parks will have special fall decorations, and usually beginning in late August Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will kick off in Magic Kingdom.  Just after Halloween, holiday decorations across the theme parks and the Resort hotels begin emerging and often Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party has begun by mid-November.  Fall is a great time to visit!

As far as crowds are concerned, I often use the "Touring Plans calendar" as a loose guide when planning my own vacations and which parks to visit each day.  This is not an official Disney site, and having said that please understand that your-mileage-may-vary.  At the time of this writing, Touring Plans has a crowd calendar available for free as well as one for a small fee, depending upon how far out you would like to view the unofficial crowd calendar.

In my personal experience, September is a great time to visit for low crowds because most schools are newly under way again.  September does still feel like summer at the Walt Disney World Resort, so if you are looking for cooler weather you will not find it for several more weeks.  October may have a slight increase in crowds over September, but the weather is starting to cool off a little bit.  November usually holds steady and will show an increase in crowds during "Jersey Week" when most public schools in New Jersey are closed for part/all of a week and many fun parents of New Jersey head to Walt Disney World.  The weekend prior to Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving week are usually quite popular, so if you are looking for lower crowds you should choose dates away from this time.   Personally, my favorite time to go is the second week of November when the holiday decorations are usually completed, yet the traditional holiday crowds are still some time away.  But truly, fall in general is a fantastic time to visit!

I hope this information helps you plan your fall visit.  Please stop by and see us again with all your vacation planning questions!
