Hi Audrey,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
The good news - there are options so I trust that you will find one that works for your family. When selecting a
resort hotel (filter by resort category), I consider our budget and resort hotel amenities. My family prefers resort hotels with access to the resort monorail, so we love deluxe and deluxe villa resorts. Since these are typically more expensive, we shorten our stay to fewer nights to stay within budget. Our favorite deluxe resorts are Disney's Polynesian Village and Disney's Contemporary resorts (you can walk to Magic Kingdom from Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel). In the moderate resort hotel category, I adore Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. With value resort hotels, I love Disney's Pop Century Resort and the Toy Story rooms at Disney's All-Star Movies Resort.
Now, to consider your dilemma directly - if you have five people, you could manage in a standard room at a deluxe resort hotel. Ours have included two queen beds and one day bed. With six people, your options include The Cabins at Disney's Ft. Wilderness Resort and a family suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort (these come with two bathrooms). Also, consider the dining options at each resort. We prefer to have access to a table-service restaurant at the resort. At Disney's Contemporary Resort, we always dine at Chef Mickey's!
Audrey, remember the
parking fees as your make your choice. Also, search YouTube videos to get a better sense of room layout. Whatever you decide, know that each resort comes with its own distinct magic - our girls' reactions when entering any resort are, without fail, PRICELESS.
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
