We are looking at getting a five day ticket, wanting to start our first day on 31 dec and our last day will be 7 Jan. How quickly do New Year’s Eve tickets sell out and should we wait until all dates are available before booking. Thanks

    Hi Karyn!

Welcome to planDisney! I cannot think of a better way to start a new year than by visiting the Disneyland Resort. I'm sure that will be a party to remember!

I have great news for you! Park reservations for your dates are now open and the dates you want to visit are available! That makes this the perfect time to purchase your tickets and make park reservations. You're right that popular days like New Year's Eve are likely to sell out eventually, so it's a good idea to get those tickets purchased and park reservations made now. You can practice counting down the days before your trip so you'll be ready for the big countdown to 2024!

On a busy day like New Year's Eve, you might want to consider purchasing park tickets that already include Disney Genie+ Service so you can use Lightning Lanes to reduce your wait times. This is also a day that I would recommend sticking with one park instead of park hopping because it's possible that the parks could reach capacity and you wouldn't be able to reenter the park if you leave. It's a good idea to arrive early, bring layers for the cooler hours, rent a locker for the day to hold those extra layers, and plan to stay for the long haul if you want to greet 2024 inside Disneyland Park!

Another thing to consider is dining reservations. You can start making reservations 60 days in advance, and they usually become available at 6:00 AM EST. They will go fast on New Year's Eve, but having a reservation is a great way to make sure you'll have a nice break during your day. On days when I know we'll be staying in the parks late, I try to make a reservation for a later lunch and then we snack the rest of the day away! You can also use the mobile ordering feature on the Disneyland Mobile App to reduce your wait times for meals and snacks. In fact, you can place these orders hours in advance! It's pretty easy to view menus, make your selections, and pick a return window for later. If there's something that sounds great then I'd make that mobile order long before you get hungry. It will be ready and waiting for you when the time comes!

We don't know what special entertainment might happen for New Year's Eve yet, but it's pretty likely that it will be a major party! In the past, festivities have included DJs around the park, special food options, and nighttime spectaculars that welcome the new year in style! You might also find exclusive merchandise (yay for that locker you rented, right?) and other unique offerings. It's the kind of day to pack your patience and enjoy saying goodbye to 2023!

I hope you're able to purchase your tickets and make park reservations successfully, Karyn! That's just the start of your planning journey, so if you have other questions please swing by again and I'll be happy to help.

    Keep moving forward!
