Hi Mary,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! How wonderful of you to take your daughter's family on a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
With two girls of my own, I can understand your concern about illness interrupting your vacation. On one trip, one of our girls developed a respiratory infection a few days before we left. The doctor gave her antibiotics and she improved, so we kept our travel plans. She was a trooper on the trip. We just took afternoon breaks to give her time to rest on the first few days.
Having said that, I suggest that you review the
2018 Terms & Conditions for Walt Disney World vacation packages. We have a vacation package booked for this December. I had until 30 days prior to arrival to make changes without penalty (aside from penalties charged by third party vendors). If you are concerned about making changes after that time, I suggest that you review the
Travel Protection Plan guidelines.
Because our area had a hurricane in September and schools were out for several weeks, I had to modify our December trip dates after booking the trip. I was able to do so prior to that 30-day mark with no problem. I made changes to the dates, number of ticket days and dining plan. If you need to make changes, you can do so online or by calling a cast member at 407-939-5277.
Mary, I always remind my girls to practice good hand washing (and I send them to school with hand sanitizer), especially just before our trips to the Walt Disney World Resort. We do not want anyone getting sick before the trip!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
