I was looking forward to splurging on a lobster dinner at Narcossees, but not sure if my 8 year old son would enjoy the restaurant. Other than Ohana, where can we dine in/near MK that would be fun for an 8 year old boy? We want to stay near Magic Kingdom.

Though nothing like a lobster dinner at Narcoossee's, your son will likely thoroughly enjoy a dinner at the Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge.  Servers at this rowdy restaurant provide plenty of unofficial entertainment, but the all-you-care-to-eat skillets are the real stars of the show.  Although the stick horse races for kids are pretty popular too!  A meal here is anything but quiet and refined, so be prepared for a less than traditional experience if you go.

You might also consider a character meal at Chef Mickeys at Disney's Contemporary.  This is one of the most popular character meals of all, so be sure to plan ahead if it's something you're interested in.  The meal is served buffet style while Chef Mickey and some of his best pals go from table to table greeting young guests.

Either of these two options would likely put an ear-to-ear grin on your son's face.  Good luck in deciding which way to go!
