Hi Christine,
Welcome aboard! I’m so glad you’re embarking on another fabulous
Disney Cruise Line vacation – pull up a lounge chair and let's talk drinks! It truly feels like a vacation when you’re relaxing on deck, staring at that beautiful turquoise water with a tropical drink in your hand. Did you know the little cocktail umbrella used as a garnish was designed to keep the sun from melting your ice?
Disney Cruise Line does not offer traditional alcoholic drink packages that include a set number of beverages per day, but there are many other options for saving money on drinks.
Included in your cruise are most soft drinks, water, iced tea and coffee – don't forget to pack a refillable bottle or tumbler for each family member. There are drink stations on the pool deck available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to refill anytime. I like to pack spill-proof bottles so I can fill them with water for our beach days and toss in my bag.
Each day onboard, there is a featured Drink of the Day! The daily drink special is listed in your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and includes cocktails themed to your local port or a refreshing tropical libation. If you purchase the souvenir Disney Cruise Line cup, this is a larger size than the typical Drink of the Day serving but you still pay for the regular size throughout your cruise. Don’t forget to pack the cup in your beach bag if your itinerary includes
Disney Castaway Cay – the bartenders will honor this special there too! You can even bring that souvenir cup back onboard your next Disney cruise and the crew will continue to honor the savings. I also use mine at home to feel like I’m on vacation when I’m landlocked.
For beer lovers, you can purchase a
Beer Mug Savings Package in advance through
Onboard Gifts. This enables you to receive a 21 ounce pour of your favorite brew for the cost of a 16 ounce size for the length of your cruise.
If you plan to enjoy wine onboard or anticipate ordering wine most nights with your meal, you can purchase a particular
bottle of wine or a wine package from Onboard Gifts in advance of your sailing. Your servers will cork any unfinished bottle and bring your selections to the next night's dining room. This can save up to 25% of the cost versus ordering the wine individually.
Did you know
you can bring your own wine and beer onboard? On embarkation day (and in each port of call) each guest 21 years and older may carry on a maximum of two unopened bottles of wine or champagne, or six beers. I usually plan to stop at the store en route to the port and bring my larger tote bag as a carry-on so we can have our favorites in our stateroom. Please know that hard liquor brought onboard or purchased in a port will be stored for the length of the cruise and you will receive it on disembarkation day.
Dreaming of your next cruise with all these options has made me thirsty, Christine! Please
bring any additional questions our way to help you make the most of this special vacation.
Cheers!
Amy
