Hi! Looking forward to running at the WDW Marathon weekend in 2017! I love planning ahead; which hotel would you recommend? It will be 4 adults, and we are considering getting separate rooms, but will be open to staying in a suite! Thank you for your help!

    Hi Anissa!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

The great thing about Walt Disney World Marathon weekend is that ALL of the Walt Disney World Resorts offer runDisney bus transportation to and from each event.  So, any resort you choose will make getting to the race very convenient.

My favorite resort area, especially on adults-only trips, are the Epcot area resorts. (Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club and Yacht Club.  The Swan and Dolphin are also there, but they are my least favorite of those resorts)   The reason I like these:  1) it's the shortest distance on the bus to and from the start/finish area (you can actually walk back to your resort through Epcot if you have tickets valid for entrance into Epcot that day) and 2) the Boardwalk area offers great and easy restaurant choices, as well as easy-entrance into Epcot and all of the dining available there.  These are Deluxe Resorts, so they are pricey, but they would be on top of my list if I could choose any resort.

My next choices would be the monorail resorts (Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Polynesian Village). These are also Deluxe Resorts and offer beautiful views and great dining.

I recommend getting two rooms, especially if it's for two couples.  The suites are great, but almost all of them have sofa beds as the additional sleeping area.  Disney sofa beds are very comfy, but not nearly as comfortable as the big beds.  With it being a race weekend, good sleep is important.  Plus, if it's two couples, it's always nice to have some privacy.  The exception to that is if you get the two-bedroom suite. Then, you could each have your own bed/bath area with the living room and kitchen in common. That would be fun!

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if you have any other questions as you plan for 2017!!
