Looking into Fort Wilderness for my next visit to enjoy one day at the resort. Why is the lodge more expensive than the cabins? Do you get a golf cart to get around the resort grounds because it looks like a very far walk to anywhere.

Hi Janine! Many guests get a bit confused about the difference between the Wilderness Lodge Resort and the Fort Wilderness Resort. They are actually two very separate resorts located close to each other but not connected. The Wilderness Lodge is a typical resort with rooms in a hotel setting. Fort Wilderness is a resort comprised of cabins and RV sites and is not a hotel setting.

The cabins are quite popular because of their uniqueness. Each one sits separately on a site so they don't share common walls with anyone else. They have a bedroom with a queen bed and bunk beds, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining table and chairs, a living area with a pull out sofa bed, and a large flat screen tv. Outside each will have a deck with a picnic table and a grill.

Fort Wilderness is a very large spread out resort and many guests find renting a Golf cart is a great way to get around. If you do not want to spend the extra money for a cart rental you need to know that Fort Wilderness does have a great internal bus system that will get you anywhere you need to go in just a few minutes.
