Howdy, Bernadette! Thanks for stopping by planDisney! I’m happy to rustle up some helpful information about Fort Wilderness at Walt Disney World.
Every Walt Disney World Resort hotel has tons of fun things to do, and Fort Wilderness is no exception. In fact, looking over the list of
recreational offerings, it might have more to do than most resort hotels. But that’s a research project for a different day.
Fort Wilderness is home to the
Tri-Circle-D Ranch, which you’ll be visiting as part of the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure, but the ranch also offers pony rides, trail rides, wagon rides, and carriage rides. If seeing Walt Disney World on horseback isn’t your thing, you might consider renting a
bike,
canoe, or
kayak to explore the wilder side of the resort.
If you’re looking for more of a musical adventure, then Fort Wilderness has you covered. Not only does the resort offer a camper sing-a-long with Chip ’N’ Dale on select nights, but it is also home to the beloved
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. Located at Pioneer Hall, this 2-hour dinner show is a popular attraction, so be sure to get reservations ahead of time.
Now, as for navigating your way from the Port Orleans resorts to Fort Wilderness, be sure you have downloaded the My Disney Experience mobile app. You can find directions to most locations in Walt Disney World on the app’s map, as well as the best transportation options. At the time I’m writing this, the app suggests taking a complimentary bus from Port Orleans - Riverside or Port Orleans - French Quarter to EPCOT, and then transferring to a bus headed for Fort Wilderness. If you’re looking for a more direct route, then you might consider booking a
Minnie Van.
Bernadette, I hope this information helps and that you have an amazing day at Fort Wilderness. Mosey on back to planDisney if you have any other questions for planning your Walt Disney World vacation.
Magical travels!
Matt
