We were looking into doing a family vacation at Disney world but when I say family I mean my husbands side and my side so we’re looking at about 11 or 12 adults and 4 kids I was just woundering about the best way to go about planning this vacation

    Hi, there!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Pedro. I'm so glad you stopped by!

A Walt Disney World Resort vacation with a big family is sure to be BIG fun. I traveled with my extended family of 14 a few years ago, and we had a positively magical stay!

Your first step in the planning process will be making your hotel reservations. I always recommend staying "on property" because there are so many benefits of staying at a Disney Resort hotel. When I visited with my big family, we opted for multiple rooms in a Moderate Resort hotel. This gave every small family within the larger group some personal space. You may also want to consider larger accommodations like the Deluxe Villas which can accommodate bigger groups. With over 30 Resort hotels at Walt Disney World, your family certainly has a lot of options to choose from!

Once everyone has a Disney Resort hotel reservation, get connected through Family & Friends on My Disney Experience. This handy tool helps get everyone on the same page during the planning process!

Next, I suggest planning your dining reservations. Meal time was our favorite time of day when my family of 14 vacationed together. It gave us a chance to rest our feet, enjoy delicious food, and chat about the adventures we were experiencing. I recommend booking one Table-Service reservation per day. Character Dining Experiences that feature buffets are super great for big families because there is lots of variety to choose from. As an added bonus, beloved Disney Characters are there for photos, autographs, and hugs!

The closer you are to your family's Disney vacation, you'll be able to select your FastPass+ experiences. Making selections for your entire party is a great way to maximize your time in the theme parks and minimize your time waiting in lines! Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel can make FastPass+ reservations up to 60-days in advance. I suggest chatting with everyone in your family about what attractions are the biggest priorities. This will help guide your decision making when it's time to make your selections!

I hope this was helpful, Pedro. Please visit us again soon with any new questions you may have about your Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
