I am looking at going to Disneyland the last week of January 2020. What rides might be closed during that time? Also would this be a good week to go or the first week in February? This is my kids first time and we cant wait!

    Hiya, Jessica!

I’m of the opinion that any time is a great time to visit the Disneyland Resort. Though schedules are not yet set and are subject to change, late January and early February do typically see some regular attraction refurbishments. As it returns from its holiday form, it’s a small world may still be unavailable during the latter week part of January. And you may find either Splash Mountain or Grizzly River Run to be under refurbishment during those cooler months of the year. The latest schedule information on the Disneyland Resort website will usually give you a picture of what to expect for attraction refurbishments and park hours about four to six weeks in advance.

As you consider when to visit the Disneyland Resort, I’ll give you one of my favorite suggestions for that time of year. You may be interested in participating in the Lunar New Year celebrations in Disney California Adventure Park. This multicultural event lets you explore the arts, foods, and cultures of the Far East. And since 2020 marks the “year of the mouse,” I’m hopeful that Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will play big roles in the coming events at that time. In 2019, Lunar New Year occurred on February 5 and the Disneyland Resort celebrated from January 25 to February 17. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for announcements related to the Lunar New Year festivities in 2020.

Since your little Mouseketeers will be visiting for the first time, be sure to stop by one of the main Guest Services locations to pick up complimentary “First Visit” buttons. And, yes, there is so much to be excited about as you visit the Happiest Place on Earth! “Adventure is out there” around every corner, even in a galaxy far, far away!

    Have a magical time, Jessica!
