Hi we are looking at a disney world holiday in 2011 for our party of 7. 2 adults and 4 children and are wondering what the best months would be as far as cost, weather and avoiding your holiday periods. We are coming from Australia thankyou

Hi Casey!  Wow that will be a long trip for you but well worth it as Walt Disney World is truly a magical destination!

January and February are relatively quiet months with a couple of weekend crowds during Martin Luther King holiday and Presidents weekend. The weather is much cooler at this time of year too making the parks easier to handle. March is considered spring break time in the states and I would avoid mid month through April next year as Easter comes late and is toward the end of April.  May is generally a good month as it is warm and the rains are just starting so it isn't too much of a factor. Early June would be similar to May for crowds and temperatures.  Later in June, July, and early August are busy summer months with larger crowds and very hot and humid days. September is a good month....kids here are back in school and if you like the hot and humid days then this is the month to come.

I prefer the fall months for weather.  Mid October through December will provide better days with less humidity.  There are fun things going on at this time such as the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival that make it exciting.  Avoid the American holiday of Thanksgiving which is the end of November.  Halloween is a fun time and the crowds are a little bigger but not too bad.  December is full of festive decorations and events. The crowds are hard to predict but up to the week of Christmas it isn't too bad.

You can check out specific room rates by going to the website, www.disneyworld.com, and clicking on a specific resort. Click on ROOM TYPES and PRICING and it will list the dates for this year which will be most likely similar to 2011.
