Looking at DC for Aug 18th-21st. Plan to flying in Wednesday the 16th and spendday either at Disney or Legoland before cruise. I understand ship disembarks everyone by 11:30am, should I plan for a late evening flight home? Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Jamie! It is so exciting to begin planning your very first sailing with Disney Cruise Line, isn't it? I still remember the very first time my family and I set foot on one of Disney's ships. Our family name was announced as we walked into the atrium lobby and the Cast Members applauded our arrival. We knew it was going to be a very magical vacation!

Disney Cruise Line offers cruise ground transfers from Port Canaveral back to the Orlando International Airport, so I highly suggest you book those, because they take care of all the details, making your return home super easy and stress free - which is exactly what you'll want after having enjoyed a magical cruise vacation. Guests must be out of their staterooms by 8:00 a.m. and off the ship by 9:00 a.m. The 11:30 time you mentioned is the time that Disney asks guests to book flights after if they are taking Disney transfers in order to ensure they arrive at the airport with plenty of time for their flight. My family and I try to book flights around noon or 1:00, and that works out perfectly. You wouldn't want anything much later or you'll end up sitting around the airport all day.

If you choose to stay at one of the Walt Disney World Resorts before your cruise, you can also book cruise transfer that pick you up right at your resort to take you to Port Canaveral. So easy, and definitely the way to go! The cruise transfers all carry a cost of $35 per person each way, but I promise they're the best way to transition from land to sea and back again!

Plus, by staying at a Disney Resort, you'll get free Magical Express transfers from the airport to your resort when you first arrive, so no car is necessary for the entirety of your trip! Let Mickey do the driving!
    Happy planning, Jamie!
