looking at cruise on Wish leaving on 12-6. What time can you board the ship?

Ahoy there Arlene, and welcome back to planDisney!

It's certainly been a few years since your last question to us here at planDisney, and it's great to see you back with a question as you prepare to set sail at the end of the year. Based on the date you provided, it looks like you're headed on a 3-Night Very Merrytime Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral which I recently did myself recently so I'm happy to share with you a bit of first-hand nautical knowledge from my Embarkation experience on the Disney Wish:

    • Generally, the terminal in Port Canaveral opens to embarking guests after the ship has been cleared from the previous voyage ending that very same morning. (You can imagine the massive effort to refresh and turnaround thousands of staterooms within a very short period of time, which is why guests are often unable to head directly to their aquatic abode soon after they board.) According to Disney Cruise Line, "for most sailings, the cruise terminal opens at 11:15 A.M." which was fairly accurate for our sailing this past December. Currently the All-Aboard time for guests sailing on this voyage is scheduled for 3:45 P.M. but it's also important to be aware that with Disney Cruise Line these times may be subject to change without prior notice even on the day itself.
Being on a special Very Merrytime Cruise is sure to be an excellent way to get into the holiday spirit as they not only deck the halls but deck the decks of the ship itself for guests looking to celebrate the season. In fact, we were even treated to the sight of the folks brought on board who were carefully putting together the tree in the Grand Hall; though this did affect the embarkation process a bit, the end result was well worth any additional wait we had experienced.

Ahead of your voyage you should receive additional information to assist you prior to your Embarkation Day, but I also recommend downloading the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App which is incredibly useful among all of us seafaring folks - whether it's your first time at sea or another trip for a fellow seasoned sailor. Don't hesitate to come back to planDisney again soon Arlene, for any other pearls of watery wisdom!

Here's to celebrating the Holidays on the High Seas!
