Ahoy, Brenda! Welcome to planDisney and the first step toward setting sail for where magic meets the sea. Disney Cruise Line prides itself on offering entertainment and activities for all ages, so you have definitely come to the right place!
Although the young adults in your party might have outgrown the traditional youth clubs, including Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Edge, and Vibe, the cruise staff team still wants to make sure that they have a fantastic time at sea. As a result, guests ages 18 to 20 years old are welcome to participate in the “1820 Society,” which offers exclusive activities specifically designed for guests that are too old for the teen club and too young to participate in the adult beverage offerings onboard.
There is usually an 1820 Society meetup on embarkation day and then a number of other social activities scheduled throughout the length of each cruise. The exact offerings for the 1820 Society do vary by itinerary, sailing date, and ship, so be sure to check the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App once you are onboard to see what is available. The Navigator App will allow you to keep track of your desired activities under “My Plans” by using the “Add Activities” button to your personal schedule and there is even an option to filter activities specifically for the 1820 Society to narrow down your choices.
Traditionally, there has been no dedicated space for these gatherings, but the
deck plans for the newest ships, including the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny, all feature a new stylish club called
The Hideaway. This new versatile space was designed to offer older teens and young adults a place to either kick back and relax or socialize with karaoke and dance competitions. Some events will be held in restaurants, lounges, or other spaces onboard, so be sure to check the Navigator App for specific times and locations.
The entire Disney Cruise Line fleet also features a number of areas reserved exclusively for guests 18 years and older, including the
Quiet Cove Pool area found aboard most ships and a selection of adults-only dining experiences. Though some of the
nightclubs and lounges play host to family-friendly activities during the day, the areas designated as adult entertainment districts become restricted to guests 18 years and older after 9:00pm. Anyone 18 years and older is welcome to attend the hilarious adult-exclusive game shows, silent dance parties, and trivia competitions found onboard.
Just remember what “Lilo & Stitch” taught us: ‘ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. Disney cruises are designed to provide magical escapes for everyone no matter their age, so I hope you and your entire family are ready to set sail for adventure very soon. Happy sailing!
