Hi Heather,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Mickey and Minnie Mouse are so excited to hear that you are bringing your son to visit them at the Walt Disney World Resort!
We have peanut and shellfish allergies in our family so I have experience navigating Walt Disney World restaurants with these concerns. First, I suggest that you review the
Special Dietary Requests information. When making
dining reservations, be sure to note the allergy on the reservation. You will simply need to click on the link to "Add" Special Requests when making the reservation. After you make your dining reservations, email the Special Diets Team at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com or call 407-824-5967 to indicate that your son has food allergies.
When we have arrived at a restaurant, the cast member who served us has always talked with us about the food allergies we have. Typically, they have placed a "receipt" with our food allergies listed on our table. They also specifically talk to us about which foods to avoid. At times, a chef has come to our table to speak with us about our food allergies and a chef has walked with me along a buffet to point out what I cannot eat. On our last visit, we received special menus at some restaurants. We have been so impressed with the ways our food allergies have been considered!
Heather, we typically use a
Disney dining plan, so you can certainly use the dining plan even with having food allergies. Our family enjoys the Disney Dining Plan and the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan. The Disney Deluxe Dining plan is our favorite. We dine like royalty on that plan!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
