Hey, howdy, hey, Bethann! Thanks for coming to planDisney with your question about using a mobility device at the Walt Disney World Resort! Accessibility is a top priority for Disney, and all guests can expect to experience the magic equally, so let's dig a little deeper into your question to make sure you and your son will have the opportunity to make many magical memories together!
Bethann, in researching the
property rules for the Walt Disney World Resort, I was able to confirm that guests are welcome to bring their own wheelchair into the theme parks as long as they fit the following criteria - the wheelchair must have at least 3 wheels, must be stable and balanced when unoccupied and/or stopped, and may not exceed 36" in width and 52" in length. While no specific information is given for the wheel size specifically, I spoke with a Cast Member who confirmed that as long as the personal wheelchair meets these restrictions, it will be allowed inside the theme parks.
Navigating the theme parks using a mobility device is made a little easier with some
featured services for guests with mobility concerns; from
disability parking to
accessible queues for attractions, and even accessible resort transportation, using a wheelchair won't slow down the magic! And if you're staying as a guest at a Disney Resort hotel, there are also a variety of
services and features you can expect such as accessible pathways to all resort areas, accessible rooms, and disability parking on site. These are just some more ways Disney promises to put the magic within everyone's reach!
Bethann, I hope this is helpful in your planning, and I'm wishing you and your son the best vacation together! If you have any other questions before your arrival, feel free to come back to
planDisney and let us know! We're always happy to help you plan the magic!
See you real soon,
Alison
