We are looking at booking a 4 night Bahama cruise on Disney Cruise Line for January 20-24, 2013 with our entire family. My question is will it be warm enough to swim in January? Are the pools heated on the cruise line? What about Castaway Cay?

    Hi Kimberly,

I'm just about ready to book a 3 night cruise to the Bahamas for May of 2013!  Great minds think alike...

You don't have to worry about the pools onboard the ship as they are all heated if the water temperature falls under 75 degrees.

The temperature for the Bahamas in January runs an average of 65 degrees in the early morning to 75 degrees by early afternoon.  Typically, the water will run about 10 degrees colder.   I can tell you that I've been to Castaway Cay several times in November, after Thanksgiving week, and the water is chilly for me personally.  My kids, however, don't ever feel it.  I can barely get them out of the water.  There is also no shortage of people swimming in the ocean.  I guess I'm trying to say that it really depends on the individual.  Castaway Cay is my favorite stop on Disney Cruise Line.  I have had a blast without going swimming.  There is SO MUCH to see and do!  I especially love the massages on Serenity Bay overlooking the ocean...ahhhh....

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if there is anything else that I can answer for you.  Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel.  Bon voyage Kimberly!
