We are looking at booking our next cruise and can’t decide between doing Halloween event on a ship we have already been on, or if the themed events will not take away from/replace the special shows and dining on the Treasure (Moana, coco, etc).

    Ahoy there, Rebecca!

Welcome back to planDisney! Choosing between two incredible sailings can feel a bit like standing at a crossroads with Jiminy Cricket on one shoulder and Pua on the other, both insisting their way is the right one. Since booking both isn’t always in the cards (or is it?), let’s chart this course together and see which adventure best fits your crew.

You know your family best, so I’ll focus on the facts that tend to matter most when making this call. Halloween on the High Seas is an absolute treat. My crew and I have done several of these sailings on different ships, and they never disappoint. From trick-or-treating through the ship and spooktacular décor to the deck party that feels more playful than spooky, it’s a great way to add seasonal fun without overwhelming the experience.

On the flip side, the Disney Treasure is stunning, and Plaza de Coco is easily one of my favorite rotational dining rooms across the fleet. The atmosphere, the storytelling, and especially the menu feel refreshingly different from the other dining rooms. At this point, you might be thinking this is less helpful than a compass spinning in a storm, so let’s dig a little deeper.

Here’s the key thing to know: themed sailings like Halloween on the High Seas generally do not replace or remove the ship’s core entertainment. Each ship still offers its three main Broadway-style shows, such as Disney The Tale of Moana, and those are presented on every sailing unless there’s an unexpected technical issue. The same goes for rotational dining. Every Guest experiences the full entertainment and menus in each dining room, even though the order and frequency may vary depending on sailing length.

For example, on a 4-night cruise, each Guest will dine in all three rotational dining rooms at least once and see the complete entertainment in each. One dining room may be repeated for a special themed night, like Pirate Night, where everyone receives the themed menu but dines in different locations. The experience stays intact, just with a little extra flair layered on top.

The bottom line is you won’t miss out on your chosen ship’s shows, dining experiences, or signature spaces by choosing a themed sailing. Halloween on the High Seas, a Very Merrytime cruise, or a longer sailing aboard the Treasure all deliver their own kind of Disney storytelling, and there truly isn’t a wrong answer here. It’s more about whether you want a seasonal overlay or the joy of exploring a newer ship from bow to stern.

I hope this helps as you decide which adventure calls your name. No matter which sailing you choose, you’ll be collecting memories worthy of their own Disney storybook.

Sea ya real soon as the adventure continues into a bright new year,
    Dustin
