I am looking at booking a Disney Vacation in Oct or Nov 2012 for a family of 6: 2 adults and 4 kids (15, 13, 12 and 7). Any recommendations on where to stay and what special promotions they have during this time period. Also, explain PINS to me.

    Hi Deanna!

With a large party, I recommend looking at a Disney Deluxe Villa or getting two connecting rooms in a Disney Deluxe Resort.  Disney Deluxe Villas are basically Disney Vacation Club (DVC) properties, but they are available to non-DVC members.  My favorite Disney Deluxe Resorts (including the Villas) are:
    • The Wilderness Lodge
    • Beach Club
    • Contemporary Resort, including Bay Lake Tower
    • Polynesian

The Polynesian is the only resort on the list above that doesn't have Deluxe Villas available.  If you stay at the Polynesian, you would have to get two rooms based on your party size.

With regards to special promotions and discounts, you will have to check back later in the year.  However, to get some idea of what might be announced, you should visit the independent website MouseSavers.com.  There they have a historical database on discounts that Disney has released over the years; you can find out when the discount was released and what it was.  If you use Google with the search string "Mouse Savers Historical Walt Disney World Discounts" it should take you right there!

PIN codes are special discount codes that are mailed (or sometimes e-mailed) from Disney to a specific person and address.  They are non-transferable; the PIN code can only be used by the person it is sent to.  Typically, the discount might be for a percentage off of a room or package; some PIN codes offer free dining, etc.  How to get a PIN code is one of the great mysteries of life!  I have never received one myself and I don't have any advice; sorry!

I hope this helps!  If you would like more hotel options and recommendations, just write back!  Enjoy planning your magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
