We are looking at booking a cruise but the week we are considering would be when my daughter has a birthday. I know this could be extra fun from a celebration perspective, but will it cause any issues for port excursions?

    Ahoy, Jen! Welcome to planDisney!

You’re absolutely right! Celebrating a birthday on a Disney Cruise is definitely fun from a celebration perspective. We celebrated my wife’s 40th birthday on our most recent cruise and it was so much fun! I’m sure your daughter will also love having her birthday celebrated with Disney Cruise Line on your upcoming sailing.

To answer your question, Jen, having a birthday would not impact Port Adventures unless she is below the required age at the time of a specific adventure that has a minimum age requirement. In that case, she would not be able to take part in that specific adventure, even if she turns the appropriate age later during the sailing. I know this may not be the news you were hoping to hear, but there are so many fun and exciting Port Adventures to choose from that will accommodate Guests of all ages.

Now, let’s quickly circle back to the birthday celebration. Disney Cruise Line offers specially themed packages for purchase that include in-room décor. Cast Members will ensure your room is decorated before you board, which is a really fun way to kick off your cruise. You can find the complete selection of Onboard Gifts on the Disney Cruise Line website. Your Stateroom Host and Serving Team will also more than likely be made aware, but it never hurts to give them a heads-up. They may add a little extra magic to your celebration, too! On the day of my wife’s birthday on our most recent cruise, Cast Members brought her a special dessert and sang “Happy Birthday,” which was the perfect way to cap off our dining experience that night.

I hope this answers your question, Jen. If you have any other questions as you continue to plan your magical sailing, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us here at planDisney. We’re always happy to help!
