Hello! We are looking into booking an Alaskan cruise next year, and was wondering - can we use our Disney Visa Rewards Dollars to pay for in port excursions if we book through Disney? Thanks!

    Ahoy Courtney!

Welcome back aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I can SEA why you are already dreaming about your Alaska voyage on the Disney Wonder and looking forward to those amazing Port Adventures. Certainly it was our family’s favorite cruise to date...but hey, I’m trying to leave room for more sailings to compare to it!

One way you are maximizing your Disney dollars is in using your Disney Premier Visa card. Just think: you can earn reward dollars to spend on your sailing by actually booking your vacation using the card! And here’s the best news: you CAN redeem your Disney reward dollars towards all Disney Cruise Line purchases charged to your stateroom account, including Port Adventures! You'll also receive special perks when using the Disney Premier Visa as your form of payment on the cruise, like savings on digital photo packages, merchandise, onboard spa treatments, and Castaway Cay packages.

Here’s how to apply your reward dollars to pay for charges to your stateroom account. You will request a Rewards Redemption Card on the Disney Visa website. The reward dollars earned will either be loaded on a new redemption card or a prior one if you’ve already received a redemption card. Once you receive the dollars on your redemption card, contact Disney Cruise Line or your travel agent to apply the balance of your redemption card to your stateroom account. There’s a great video online at Disney Rewards explaining how to request the Rewards Redemption Card prior to your sailing.

Just as you would with a Disney gift card, keep your Rewards Redemption Card because if your stateroom account charges do not exceed the reward dollars that you added, any remaining reward dollars will be placed back on the card. I’m certain there are some great things you could use those remaining dollars on...like perhaps a placeholder for a future Disney cruise! (Yes, I’m totally an enabler when it comes to travel).

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to cruise planning...or should I say glacier because we're talking Alaska? Either way, cruise back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with more questions, especially if you'd like Port Adventure recommendations!

    Happy Sailing!
