Hello, Jenny and welcome to planDisney!
I'm so glad you've stopped by with your question as talking about all of the
Disney Resorts Collection hotels is one of my favorite topics!
Since you're deciding between
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and a value resort, I'll encourage you to consider a few specific points that my family discusses when selecting our resort.
First, how many bathrooms will you need? One room at Disney's Polynesian Resort offers one bathroom, but there are family suite options at
Disney's Art of Animation Resort that boast two full bathrooms. Depending on the age of your kids and your typical set up at home, a second bathroom can often be a "must" for a party of five or more.
Second, Jenny, I like to consider transportation. If you're planning to stay most of the day at the parks and not travel back and forth during the day, a value resort might be the better way to go since you'll be able to save a bit of money. If your Mouseketeers are younger and you're planning a mid-day pool or nap break with a return to the parks, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is only a quick (monorail) stop from Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT and may "win" with proximity.
Finally, Jenny, I like to think about resort theme and what will most delight my own kids. If you have any little ones who would marvel at being surrounded with larger than life characters like 101 Dalmatians or Lighting McQueen, I would check out
Disney's All-Star Movies Resort or Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Both of these properties will make little movie-goers squeal with delight. Now, if you have fans of
Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room or Moana, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is the perfect place to call your home base.
Jenny, I hope these tips help in your decision making and I hope you're able to find the perfect Disney Resorts Collection hotel fit for your family. If you have any other questions, come on back to planDisney where we love to help guests find their own Happily Ever After.
