Hello Leslie and welcome to planDisney!
As a
Disney Vacation Club Member who has stayed at
Disney’s Old Key West Resort I’m so happy to talk to you about the variety of accommodations at this property.
Let’s first talk about location! The villas (regardless of size) that are deemed "Near Hospitality House" have a much shorter walk to the main pool area, dining and
shopping than those in the standard category. Since my kids love a pool slide, we booked close to the Hospitality House so that the Sandcastle pool was always within reach!
Now, once you’ve decided what location will be best for your party, you’ll need to decide between a “Lock-off” villa and a standard 2-Bedroom Villa. The Lock-off villa is essentially a 1-Bedroom Villa and a connecting Deluxe Studio room. With this configuration you’ll have two exterior entrances and an additional kitchenette. The standard 2-Bedroom Villa is one whole unit with one entrance. At Disney’s Old Key West Resort you will find the same bedding options in both, however at other
Disney Vacation Club properties you’ll find a difference between the 2nd bedroom accommodations and a deluxe studio room. This is particularly important if you prefer a pull down sleeper for extra space or two queen beds, however both options at Disney’s Old Key West Resort offer two queen beds.
If more than one family will be traveling together, the Lock-off villa does add an extra elementary of separation with the additional entrance and door connecting OR closing it off from the rest of the villa. If you have little ones where this would be a negative feature, I would recommend booking the standard 2-Bedroom Villa.
Leslie, I hope this helps in your decision making! Please come on back to planDisney with any additional questions because even when we’re on island time, we’re happy to chat with guests.
