Hello Neil and welcome to planDisney.
You really have come to the right place Neil as we have so much in common! I'm the current
UK Panelist here at planDisney, and like you, I also love visiting Walt Disney World Resort from across the pond, and as my family is also larger than your average size, I've also needed connecting rooms to accommodate us all.
In past yEARs, when my family numbered only 6 (we've since gained the blessings of some sons-in-law and grandchildren!), we've loved staying within the
Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. These rustic home-away-from-home-sweet-home Cabins really do make for the most wonderful holiday accommodation for a family.
However, if your family size requires a little more room or indeed multiple rooms, then I can highly recommend placing a
request for connecting rooms within a Disney Resorts Collection hotel at the time of booking. At present, I don't believe that Guests are able to make this request when booking online via the
Walt Disney Travel Company. However, if you did wish to book 2 separate Resort rooms online, then it's always possible to make a request for these rooms to be connecting at a later date.
In my own experience, I'm more than happy to share that I've found the best solution to this booking conundrum is to speak in person with a Cast Member who can assist with booking your family holiday to Walt Disney World Resort. This way, for absolute peace of mind, you'll know for sure that your room request has been correctly added to your original booking.
Neil, it's really straightforward to speak with a Cast Member by dialling the UK
freephone number contained within this handy
Walt Disney Travel Company - Contact Us link.
I would like to remind you that requests can never be guaranteed at Walt Disney World Resort. But, I can assure you that Cast Members will always do their utmost to ensure that room requests of this type are met.
Neil, if you should have any further questions for me concerning your jolly holiday plans to visit the magic and wonder of Walt Disney World Resort, then please just give me a little whistle at planDisney!
Have a great Disney day ~ Jane
