Hello, we are looking to book at Disney's Fort Wilderness. There is no availabilities for December and January. Is it fully booked or we need to make tge reservayion over the phone? Thank you!

    Hey, Howdy, Hey, Emilie!

Welcome to the planDisney Roundup. I’m Shantel, and I am more than happy to help you plan for your upcoming visit!

Online availability seems to change frequently. This past Labor Day weekend, I was on the hunt for a room for my family to stay at for a quick visit. I was online every hour the day before in search of something. And as I did that, I noticed that availability was frequently changing. I was able to find just what we were looking for during these searches at a time I was not prepared to book. Funny enough, I found our room at 4:00 A.M. when I woke up for a drink of water. I sprang from my bed to find my Disney Visa to book it on the spot. For background, we are normally flexible, but because of how quick this trip was, we wanted to splurge in the parks and stay at a Value Resort.

If you are not finding any availability online, I recommend giving the Walt Disney World Resort a call. A Cast Member there might be able to find just what you are looking for. They may even be able to recommend a different option, which I personally love. I love it when a Cast Member helps me weigh the options and sometimes even directs me to a different option. Like over the summer, we were set on staying at Port Orleans French Quarter, but then the Cast Member reminded me of the Skyliner from Pop Century, so we went with Pop. It's nice to talk through all the options, especially when they are interested in what your overall plans are. We talked about how Hollywood Studios and EPCOT were our must parks, which is why the Skyliner resort made more sense.

So as you plan, you may want to think about which parks you want to visit and the location of your resort. Sometimes the location of your resort outweighs your initial pick, which works out for the better in the end, trust me. Emilie, what are your plans? If Magic Kingdom is where you’ll be spending most of your time, and if Fort Wilderness Lodge isn’t an option. I recommend The Polynesian. Think about how many DOLE Whips you’ll get to enjoy there!

Emilie, I hope this helps answer your question. I’m sending you all the magical wishes and pixie dust in hopes you can book your stay at Fort Wilderness Lodge. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help with as you continue to plan.

    See ya real soon,

    Shantel
