We were looking to book a Disney cruise in September but wondered if we took out a Disney Visa card if we could book the whole trip using that? Just looking for advice on that.

    Hello, Chance,

I'm not a certified financial advisor. And I'm certainly no Scrooge McDuck. But I have taken advantage of the perks of the Disney Visa Credit Card when paying for our Disney Cruise Line vacations.

Yes, Disney Visa cardholders may choose to use their Disney Visa Credit Card to pay for all or part of their Disney cruise. Depending on the cost of the cruise and the credit limit on the card, it may take multiple payments. Payments for cruise fare are automatically eligible for Special Vacation Financing. I use the automatic payment option on our Chase account using the "Interest saving balance" option. That way, I'll automatically make the minimum payment on the 0% interest promotional financing of our eligible Disney Cruise Line sailings and Disney Parks vacation packages and other purchases made with our Disney Visa card to avoid paying any finance charges or interest and complete payment on our Special Vacation Financing within the 6-month period.

We currently have the Disney Premier Visa Card. But if you would prefer a card without an annual fee, there is an option for that too. I usually recommend that no-fee option for most people unless you are confident that the 2% level of Disney Rewards Dollars available with the Disney Premier Visa Card is enough to make up for the annual fee for your spending on eligible purchases or you can make good use of the other perks exclusive to the Premier card. Everyone has unique spending habits and financial needs. You may wish to consult with a trusted financial advisor to determine the best approach for your particular situation.

Tony's Tip: Disney Visa Credit Cards may also be used to cover costs on your Disney Cruise Line onboard account. I have found that to be a very convenient way to make a payment for a placeholder booking to take advantage of the 10% savings available on select future cruises. Note that onboard gifts and amenities, pre-payments of gratuities, or prepayment of an onboard account may not qualify for the Special Vacation Financing.

I hope you have a magical time on your cruise, Chance. Please let us know if you have any more questions as you get ready for your adventure on the high seas.
    ~Tony
