Hello. Looking to book a Disney cruise with our In-laws and kids. I am an active military member. Can I get the military rate on both rooms? I will be staying in one room with the kids and my spouse will be in the other room?

    Ahoy there, Steven!

Welcome aboard planDisney! First off, as a fellow service member, let me say thank you for your service! A Disney cruise with your family and in-laws sounds like the perfect adventure at sea—think of it as charting a course for memories that will sparkle brighter than Rapunzel’s lanterns! Let’s dive in and see how those military discounts work when booking staterooms.

There are a few variables at play when it comes to reserving multiple staterooms using the military rate. Because every family’s situation is unique, I highly recommend calling Disney Cruise Line directly. Their fantastic Cast Members can sprinkle in that pixie-dusted guidance to help you navigate all your options. And here’s a tip from experience: if you need to mix and match rates (like one room at a military rate and one at a regular or another special offer), booking over the phone usually makes the process much smoother.

Now, let’s talk through some scenarios! In most cases, the military rate is limited to one stateroom per household, not one stateroom per military ID. That means if you and your spouse are sailing together, the discount typically applies to just a single room. If your spouse were sailing without you, they could still use the military rate—but again, it would be limited to one stateroom. One big exception would be if both of you were active duty—then you’d each be able to secure a stateroom under the military rate (that’s when things really feel like hitting the high score on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin!).

Another exception applies if your immediate family is too big to fit in a single room. If you’ve got three or more little Mouseketeers, Disney may allow a second stateroom under the military rate to keep everyone comfortable. However, if you’ve got three kids and a five-person stateroom is available, they might offer you that option instead of granting a second room. If you think this exception applies to you, definitely call in so the Cast Member can note it on your reservation and help avoid any hiccups at the terminal—because no one wants a plot twist on embarkation day!

From my family’s own experience, we love taking advantage of the military offers—it feels like discovering a hidden treasure chest each time. But don’t forget to keep an eye on the Special Offers page as well. Sometimes, discounts like the current “50% off 3rd and 4th Guests” for select sailings can work out just as magically, depending on your travel dates.

I hope this gives you a clear picture of how the military rates usually work and a few options to keep in mind. No matter which route you choose, your crew is in for an unforgettable voyage filled with Broadway-caliber shows, amazing meals, and Castaway Cay-worthy relaxation. I’m so excited for the memories you’re about to make—they’ll stick with you long after the ship has docked back home.

Sea ya real soon as summer waves goodbye and autumn magic begins to shine,
