Hi there, Deborah! Welcome to planDisney. It's wonderful to have you here as you prepare for a Disney Cruise and a runDisney race!
I've been in your (race) shoes before while sailing on a Disney Cruise and needing to get a hefty amount of miles in throughout the sailing. While none of the Disney Cruise ships have a traditional running track, guests are welcome to walk, jog, or run along the Promenade Deck (deck 4). This is most easily accomplished on the
Disney Magic,
Disney Wonder,
Disney Dream, and
Disney Fantasy. The newest ships (Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny) have a Promenade Deck you can run along, but it includes an additional jaunt up some stairs. For that reason, I prefer running on the treadmill at the
Fitness Center on those ships.
On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, 3 laps around the Promenade Deck is approximately one mile. On the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream, it is 2.5 laps to a mile. I've gotten creative and split my long runs between the Promenade Deck and the treadmill when I needed a change of scenery. It's important to note that while the Promenade Deck is a full loop on the aforementioned ships, there are times when portions of the path are closed for maintenance or training purposes.
I hope that information helps you feel prepared as you make your travel plans. If you'll be visiting Disney's Castaway Cay, consider running on the island. There is a 5k course that you can run as many times as you'd like. You might also enjoy a run while visiting one of the ports along your itinerary.
Deborah, please sail back to us if you have additional questions. My pals and I will be here to help!
May the miles and your cruise be magical,
Adrianna
