Looking at blizzard beach map. what is shell island- clamshell shade area?

    Hi Bashunica!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

There is something very enjoyable about spending a day at one of the Walt Disney World water parks - Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Disney's Blizzard Beach, and I always schedule a day at both of these parks as a relaxing break from the theme parks. You can further enhance your visit by reserving private spaces for the day.  At Blizzard Beach these are either Polar Patios (which provide a reserved exclusive space for up to six Guests and offers you towels, cushioned seating, a locker, refillable drink mugs and a cooler ready-stocked with bottles of water and ice), or Lodge Umbrellas which are reserved areas for up to four Guests, with seating (two loungers and two beach chairs), a small table, four towels and a beach umbrella for that much-needed shade).  Shell Island - Clamshell Shade Area is a semi-private location for Lodge Umbrellas, with a great view overlooking Melt-Away Bay.  If you refer to the Blizzard Beach Guidemap  it is marked as (C).  This particular area cannot be reserved in advance, and is available on a first-come, first-served basis, for same-day reservations.  I would highly recommend arriving early, and heading straight to Beach Haus, to enquire about reserving this space.

Please come back and visit us if you have any further questions. We will be happy to help you plan your magical vacation to Walt Disney World.
